A master's job is
never done, it lives on through the ages.
The annual Installation of officers was held on December 21, 1985 on a Saturday evening. Lodge was closed in due form and refreshments were served in the dining hall.
In January the officers had a third degree practice with Worshipful Bro. Charles Bersani, Inspector of the 416th Masonic District, in attendance. In April it was business as usual at the stated meeting and a fine Mountain Oyster and Scallop Dinner was enjoyed before the meeting. (Now how could something like that ever be enjoyed? hehehe)
The month of May brought Past Masters Night. At the stated meeting this month Past Master Carl Smith announced the slow sales of the bolo ties that were ordered for the 75th anniversary.
It was noted in the minutes of the June stated meeting that Bro. Gerald Bayless, a hard working brother around the Lodge, would be this years recipient of the Hiram Award.
It is here noted that Bro. Lyle H. Smith, Past Master of Clovis Lodge, passed away on July 28th and was laid to rest on August 2nd. Kind words spoken were, "Bro. Lyle was a faithful member of Clovis Lodge and was known for doing his ritual work and his presence will surely be missed."
In September it was approved by motion and vote to advance the sum of $200.00 to the refreshment committee which made the total amount of $500.00 which seems funny because that is the same amount we still use today.
In October a proposition was read from Ponderosa Lodge 700 inquiring about moving into Clovis Lodge. The next month a group came over from Ponderosa Lodge and several spoke their opinions on the matter. It was moved and seconded that they be allowed to move in and the Master appointed a committee on the matter.
In December it was decided to buy an additional 175 folding chairs for the Lodge.
Brethren lost to death in this year were Bro's. Claude Cecil Wilson, Anton Jay Justesen, Augustus Lee Nance, Allen H. Smith, James E. Moore, Rawdon Lawrence Warren, Beauford Floyd Helling, Everett W. Reed, Lloyd E. Krause, Hollis F. Johnson, Daniel T. Botts, Estel A. Gates, Lyle H. Smith PM, George Richard Yates, William B. Aukerman, Edward West Neville, Jack Elwood Coats, Harry Raymond Tiffany Jr., William Henry Washburn, Claude Clayton Scullin and Horace Parker Phillips.
